Unless you have a 2 1/2" chambered gun why shorten them ? Any extra length can be used for glue or more shot. You could check the diameter of a case mouth, chamber it and close the gun. After pulling it out recheck the case mouth to see if the gun squeezed it smaller. Just a thought.
