Default Shield on Parker Stock.

I noticed on a number of Parker Shotguns that they have some sort of small shield on the under side of the stock.I looked at my Parker and it does not have a shield on it.The guy my wife got my Parker from said it was all original eccept for the recoil pad.So my question is....... Did all Parkers come with a shield on the stock? Thanks in advance.

Armond,VH,PH and GH hammerless guns had a german silver "police badge" shaped shield on the stocks. DH and CH guns had a silver oval shield. BH and up had a gold oval shield and the lowest grade gun the Trojan grade had no shield at all.

My 1877 vintage '0' grade has a silver shield on the top of the wrist.

Mark,
Dave's comments were directed to hammerless Parkers, lifter hammer guns are a bit different. The shields are found on the stocks even on the higher grades but they are gold on the B grades and higher, silver on the rest. But I may be off a bit (?) because C grades might have gold shields .... I'm not sure and I don't have a quick reference at the moment. Anyone help me on this?

Robin, I believe it is gold for B and higher.

Most all (unless ordered otherwise) hammer guns, lifter and top action had shields on top of the wrist of the stock but again, B and above had the cap of the pistol grip or ball grip of gold.

Default Stock Shield

I have V, P, and G from all eras with the nickle silver shield midway between grip and butt; two D's with the nickle silver shield in the wrist, and a Dam 6 with a similarly shaped but gold shield in the wrist. There are at least two D's with oval shields in the butt of some other metal than gold.

Best, Austin

Default Shield

No; It is a sampling of the whole range. Most of the DH 's have ovals, but not all are gold. Several VH PH and GH have the shield about 6 in from the toe of the stock. I have a DHE with no shield or oval.

Best, Austin
