I had wondered where this Parkers had ended up

I almost bought this one last year when Pugs had it , I remember they cleaned the varnish off and said they sold it at a gun show earlier this year .

Yeah I do believe this is the most double 8s I have seen in awhile , I think one auction has 20+ . Probably the most interesting is the one with a extra set of barrels , thats not something you see everyday .

Some other interesting big bores is the two Purdey 10 bores and the 8 bore , according to Purdey they only have about six 8 bores in their records .

I thought of placing a bid on the Parker but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes above the estimate . Pugs had it listed for $4950 .

Same here , If I wanted to spend a bit on another double I wouldnt be able to till about October . However I am eyeing this relatively cheap Parker 10 gauge.
I thought If I can get it at the price the money saved from buying a more expensive gun I could get a lifetime membership instead . My annual membership ran out the other day so it would be a good time to upgrade .

Besides I dont think I could get a cooler Parker 10 gauge then what I already have . But I like looking at the market and seeing what the big bores go for .

It's quite possible you could buy an 8 for less in one of these auctions since so many are hitting the market at the same time. It will be interesting to observe.
Shooter grade 8's may benefit if RST does in fact make 8 ga ammo in the near future.

I have looked at some English 8 bores but from what ive read the plastic wads really do not liked being fired in a 9 bore barrel . Most the English 8s I look at have skinnier bores than the Parker 8s . Not sure what wad RST is planning on using but I would think the plastic ones.

I only see two 8s for the October auction , I guess I will see how much money I have by then .

Push a plastic wad through the 9 gauge bore and make your own assumption about how hard it has to work to get through. My guess is that you are overthinking the situation. How would you ever tell the condition of the lifter 8 on RIA if you weren't actually at the auction?

Im not worried on the condition of the Parkers , I meant English 8 bores .
From the bore measurements ive seen on Parker 8s they are more than generous for plastic wads .


I wasnt specifically looking for a 8 gauge but any large frame Parker hammer guns .A #4 frame 10 ga would be preferable. I figure If I dont find one this year I can try again next year .

yes a 4 or 5 frame ten would be nice...maybe you and me will snag one some day.....all my 8 ga s but one have had their barrels clipped so I wont have to worry about what size wad them boys use to make them new shells....charlie
