Briley repairs up-date 2/9/2018
See earlier thread.....I have been working with the gun smith manager (Mike) He originally expressed concern about my expectations of the finished work. Briley has longer than normal backlog of work due to weather damaged guns and have a longer than normal lead time for barrel fitting and heavy gun smith work. The choke and chamber work could be completed in 4 to 6 weeks, Originally mike said it would be 3 months or so before they could get to barrel fitting and the gun would just sit there waiting. So I'm thinking about all this, Last week I called back and asked Mike to get my barrels measured and decide if they would fit up and look good as factory work. He did that and called me...said the add barrels have a smaller diameter at the breach end and would need lots of work on all parts including the existing frame and barrels. Since the 30" gun is 95% finishes this is not an option. Barrel fitting is off the table and they will just open the right barrel choke from .034 to .020 and cut the chambers to 2 3/4" They will clean the action and set trigger pulls to 4lb front and 4 1/2lb rear. I asked him to very careful not to damage the perfect screws on this hi-condition Fox. Remove the barrel fitting and they expect the work to be completed in about 4 weeks.. thats better!!! (-: I feel good about this project now but will call Mike in a couple weeks to check on the progress. I will up-date this thread as the work moves foreword....thank you all for the helpful input concerning the gun smith work at Briley. Review the earlier thread and read the mixed opinions and feedback of Briley. My Philly Fox is a 3K gun...but it has 30" barrels that have .034 choke in the left barrel...perfect wild rooster choke for Kansas, its everything I want for a working gun so I am fussy about the work and do not want anyone to screw it up! Just try to find one of the 30" 16-s like this one. SXS Ohio
