Default If Top lever does not lock in right position

If the top lever does not lock in the right position and thus the barrels will not seat (as the bolt is not retracted sufficiently), what could be the cause of the problem?

Junk in the trunk. Trip spring not coming up to engage in the bolt.

A weak or broken trip spring or gummed up oil slowing up the works is usually the issue ,or even a worn trip fairly easy parts to get and switch out

My experience tells me that the action is looking for an ultra sonic cleaning. I have taken many Parker action apart to submerge all of the parts in a ultra sonic solution for cleaning, you will be surprised on the amount of SKUD that gets removed. Then a light coat of oil ,reassemble,---- it solves a lot of problems. Just my opinion.

If you do not own an ultra sonic cleaner, have a good gunsmith do it for you.
