Lifeland Plantation
While reading about the exploits of our friends at Morrison Pines, I got a surprising call and invitation to go quail hunting in South Carolina by a local gent who is one of the part owners of the Lifeland plantation. I have known the man socially for years, and knew he always had GSP's. My son and his played together on the state championship tennis team back in 2006. We were to fly into Georgetown, SC in his companies Piper Navahoe. I decided to go and was able to take my setter Betty. We had a great time. The accomodations were good and the food was great. A bushel of steamed oysters followed by thick steaks after hunting. The other owners Bill and Bob were true southern gentlemen and treated this Yankee like one of their own.
Betty, who is one of the best grouse dogs I've ever hunted over, wowed the dog handlers, and all wanted to see her work. The weather was the only detraction, as we were rained out for our Sunday hunt, and the floods that ravaged SC this winter had some of the hunting grounds still under water.
Oh yeah, I did shoot a double over Betty with my DHE 16 .
Curses, having trouble loading pictures--damn Windows 10 has screwed up my laptop--may have to wait until I get back to work to post them
