Default TurKey Day Duck Hunt

Today the weather was mild, the tide extremely low and the gunning slow. Scott and I went out for a short duck hunt which we have done each Thanksgiving morning for many years. Today we hunted a river where I shot my first duck some 41 years ago. Today I got my first duck with my first shot at a duck from my Lefever G grade 10ga. This year a new 1974 12' foot boat I fixed up has replaced my old faithful 1961 Starcraft that was too tired to keep using after 25 years of salt water gunning. It's a bit of work to slide the boat over the banking and carry the engine and everything else to it and then get up the bank and back to the truck but it is usually worth it. We had never seen a low tide so low as this morning, probably due to the full moon. We walked the boat more than half way to where we hunted. A pleasant Thanksgiving Day and I reminded myself I have much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Don't look so serious Pete. Congrats on the first blood with the Lefever.

Thanks, don't confuse a serious look from one of fatigue caused by staring into empty skies

You guys have some beautiful hunting spots. Congrats on blooding your Lefever and breaking in your new boat. Did you add to the jewelry?

Thanks Mike, we are getting squeezed pretty hard here by development, very few places left that are not visible from somebody's picture window. The last banded bird I shot was a Canada goose last year. It's been awhile for a duck.
