Thanks Kevin.
The stock on this gun was only about 12" LOP. So, as Kevin mentioned, a butt transplant was done with the joint being at the very rear of the checkering pattern. See here a photo of the gun with the piece that was cut off on it to show how short the stock actually was. IMG_6622.jpg And something else that Kevin did not mention that makes this gun unique... a factory 24" barreled gun.

No. It was brand new wood. Attached as a block blank and shaped from there.

Flawless execution. A 24" Parker is worth that expense. What a deadly bird gun

Not meaning to hi-jack Kevins thread but after Brian resurrected an abused GHE for me last year I recommended Brian to Kevin for this project. My GHE had considerable pitting and stains on the barrels, the wood was scarred and the checkering was worn down to almost nothing and the original pad was toast. The finished results were amazing.

A question to the OP and Brian - I am curious as to why that new stock seems to have over 4" of pitch for a gun with 24" barrels? The pitch on Daryl's gun is more like what we're accustomed to seeing. Is Mr Cordell's a bit unusual or are my eyes deceiving me?
Nice restock by the way. |
