Steve is correct. The bolt can be "done away with." But those stockhead cheeks have been reshaped by some bodger. Not sure how much of that can be corrected. But... if the price is right.

I bought this PH for $750. on GB and I had Brian Dudley fixed a small chip in the toe, the head was also cracked (the crack ran behind the tag and two cracks on either side of the trigger guard). With the cost of repairs including a dis-assembly/cleaning were $313. So it is possible in my opinion buy a nice Parker that needs a little TLC and end up with a good value in my opinion. If the cheeks have been poorly modified you may want to reconsider depending on your budget. Good Luck

There was a really nice PH 12 at the Tulsa show a couple years back I passed up at $600. In my admittedly limited gun show experience, PH's are not expensive guns.

If the gun was really nice you should have jumped all over it for 600.00.

Based on the little bit that I can see of that stock, it looks like it MAY not even be an original stock. The cheek has been reworked poorly and the checkering is not anywhere near correct.
All sorts of things can be done to "correct" a bolted or pinned head. Personally I like to fix split heads before someone has stuck a pin or a bolt through it. Given the shape of the rest of the gun, unless it is next to free, walk on it. It's only a P grade with no finish lest on it.

I have seen nice repairs where the cheeks of the stock are shaved off entirely and replaced of a veneer piece of wood. With any wood repair the result depends on how closely the wood is matched, and a proper glue joint will be stronger than the wood alone.

No it is b ot that good of a price. With yalls concerns about the stock I will pass it by. I personally would rather get a NH, but I don't see Ns or Ps for sale below 1000 often so it piqued my interest.

That PH also has cut barrels.
