Default Another youth hunt

The youth hunt is a great opportunity to introduce youngsters to our passion, as Craig Larter noted. I have been doing it for years and this year I took Wyatt and his friend who lost his dad in an unfortunate accident. The boy had never been hunting but managed 3 ducks while Wyatt managed 5. I forgot the camera but did take a picture of Wyatt later with his ducks. Note the high condition M-12 he used. He saved up and put it on layaway at the local gun shop and paid it off in time for duck season. A real nice one for $600. We are going out tomorrow and Wyatt will shoot his M-12 and I will use my VHE. Hope to have some pictures. We didn't go last weekend because I took Wyatt for a doe antelope. A friend gave him a landowner voucher. Here are a couple of photos. -plc-

Very nice. It gives you a renewed faith in the future of our sport and American youth. We are bombarded with the bad stories---it is nice to see the other side. Thanks for posting.

Now THAT'S an environment a boy should grow up in! Kudos to both of you.
(Nice M12 Wyatt)

Was not very good for ducks this AM. We only got 5 (but only missed 1). Battery in camera went
kaput, battery in the Mojo went kaput, so little was working in our favor. Well, the 26" VHE worked fine as I got a double on gadwall.
Geese have been coming to our barley stubble so may try that this evening. That will require the 32" gun.

Great stuff! As a Michigander, I like the Stormy Kromer hat. As a Hunter Ed instructor, I don't like the closed action on the very nice M12

John,
I too teach hunter education and, in fact, Wyatt usually helps with classes. He is also pushing 16 so I am comfortable with it. He started with a break action single shot as youngsters should.
We are both quite fond of our Stormy Kromers! We each have several. -plc-.

Nice Work! The story of him laying away the Model 12 is a classic. I did that a couple time sin my youth and remember well the sweating I did till I was able to pay the note off.

Glad to see pictures of Wyatt with birds (Congrates to him on getting that Model 12) and a antelope to boot. Eric
