Default Marocchi High Grade Double

Hi Forum,

I was wondering if anyone here has any information on these fine doubles? I have only seen this one in particular and have done somewhat extensive web search and have found nothing anywhere. Any information appreciated on how many they made and any other data..

you would need to go back aways -their over unders were reviewed in shooting sportsman several years ago, the review was very good, I have also seen them written up in UK magazines

Evidently, they did a small run of these in the 70s or 80s. I dont know if they actually manufactured or relabled from another manufacturer. I understand they tried to sell in the US market but there were few takers. This exact firearm was I believe the salesmans sample which was sold when they decided the US market was not going to work.

Default Marocchi SxS

Armi Marocchi offered a model SM 28 L sidelock sxs shotgun from 1983 -1986 according to the the Gun Digest Book of Modern Gun Values 16th edition page 589. Links to photos include:

I used the Google search with Russian to English translation.

I'm not saying your gun is a SM 28, just passing on these pictures for comparison. HTH ? Fred.

Default Marocchi High Grade Double

I have and have shot a Marocchi High Grade Double for the past 15 years. The gun is exactly like the one in the photo, complete with the gold crown inlay, except it has classic English Rose and Scroll and case hardening. I believe it to have been made around 1975, and was quite pricey at the time. It is a great shooting gun, for several years I shot sporting with it every weekend. I have held and inspected one other at the gun shop in Easton, MD. Michael McIntosh said good things about it in the Italian Section of Best Guns. That is the only think I have ever seen in print.

I wanted to update this post as I received an email back from Marocchi from a request I made a while ago. It appears they have little if any records and stated the sxs were a very small release. This is a 28L. I wonder why they even bothered manufacturing these for only a few guns....seems like a lot of set up work for little return. It's a great bird gun yet I haven't used it very much.

They probably had it made by someone else for them. They did that with some other models.
