Default new to forum, help with parker identification

Hi all,
What an amazing website! I am new to the forum and am interested in obtaining information about shotguns that were left to me by my father. The shotguns include a Parker, Barker, Ithica and a few belgian made shotguns, all SxS's.
I figured I'd start with the Parker as it was always the one that was most intriguing to me. I believe it to be a 16 gauge, serial number 14505. I would love some input on this old piece.
Thanks in advance
Geoff
not sure if this link will work as I am new to posting pics....

I believe it to be a 16 gauge, serial number 14505.

Welcome Geoff!

Wow, if that is a 16 gauge lifter action Parker you definitely have a good one! If possible please measure the diameter of the chambers. If a 12 gauge doesn't slip into the chambers it is probably a 16 gauge. That is unless it is one of the very rare 14 gauge Parkers!

Serial number 14505 is not in the Parker Gun Identification and Serialization book or what we refer to as "The Book". Records for you Parker are available from the PGCA.

I am certain that others, especially those from the cult of the 16 gauge will join in shortly drooling over your nice condition Parker!

Mark

That gun appears to be in exceptional condition for its type. It is extremely unlikely to be a 16 gauge. Get a 12 gauge shell and try to insert it in the chamber. Only a really thick coat of rust will keep the 12 gauge shell from entering a 12 gauge chamber. The screws are in unheard of condition for this type of gun and shouldn't be touched.

Hi Geoff,

How about posting a photo of the barrel lug. It should have a number indicating the frame size, i.e. 0, 1, or maybe 2.

The gun is over at another location but I will check on the gauge. Judging by the stash of old shells I found, I'm thinking it is 16 gauge. There were a few 12's thrown in so I will try and fit them soon as I can! It feels a little light to be a 12. Not bulky like the Ithica. My father and I would always walk the gun shows together and he'd always stop whenever he saw a Parker and strike up a conversation with the owner. I was always intrigued by the great lengh of conversations about the Parkers. Guess it was really worth talking about!

pics from trigger guard and fore grip. Seems all the parts match.
Can anyone tell me the meaning of the numbers (see previous post, Pics 3)
stamped on the barrel lug?
