Default Who Won?

I didn't get to stay at the Southern as long as I planned so was hoping to see the results of the Challenge Cup posted. So, who won?

I'm told it was LC Smith by 3 targets. Parker won the hammer gun I think by 14 targets or so.

Default Elephant In The Room

Mike, sorry I didn't get to meet you at the Southern, (or if I did we didn't get introduced!)Three days after the event, and we've got a three page thread on a shoot at a secondary venue, and not three words about the main reason we all gather in Sanford. (unless I'm missing something?) Beats Me!

LC Smith won the Challenge Event by only three birds in what I believe was the closest and most exciting Challenge Event to date. There was a tie for High Gun, I believe, and Parker Wizard Dr. John Truitt faced off with Elsie shooter Adam Picket in a sudden death shoot-off especially designed by our target host Rick Hemingway from Backwoods Quail Club in Georgetown, SC. Three true pairs that were ridiculous! Another tie at 5 birds each! Another shoot-off and three more true pairs later, and Adam had won. We had us a real horse race, and an absolute joy to watch.

If my understanding is correct, barring any score corrections after the final shots, Team Parker won the Hammer Gun event for the first time ever by 11 birds. Any participation shortcomings suffered by Parker in years past was certainly overcome this year. Team Parker Hammer Gun really shined, and I'd say Team Elsie Hammer Gun has their work cut out for them next year.

Hi-Lady also went to Team Parker this year with Deb Frey winning a three way tie by reverse-long-run tie breaker rules. Can't get much closer than that!

Lots of great guns and their owners in attendance, and hopefully they'll all be back next year!

That was my take on the weekend anyway.

Gentlemen,

I could not find the results either. When I followed the link above I edited the thread title to: Cars loaded; Parker - LC Smith Challenge Results. That should help others who are brain dead by day's end...

Results of the LC Smith vs. Parker Brothers Challenge Cup:

Team LC Smith wins with a score of 233 to Parker's 230. See attached PDF of the final scores.

High Gun was Adam Pickett, Team LCS, with a score of 82 of a possible 90.
Runner Up was Dr. John Truitt of Team Parker who also scored 82.
Third Place went to Tom Cutler, LCS, with a score of 80.
Fourth Place was won by Dave Fjelline, with a score of 78.

Shoot-offs:

High Gun/Runner Up was decided between John and Adam, first on a station of 4 brutal true pairs, trap #1, a cranked standard at fairly low trajectory, #2 a low and cranked chandelle rabbit that didn't get above 20' high: John shot first and scored xx xx xx ox and then Adam who scored xx xx xo xx. Tied again at 7 apiece. The shoot-off of the shoot-off was 3 true pairs, trap #1 as before with trap #5, a screaming midi that never seemed to come down. This time Adam shot first xx xx xo followed by John with xx ox xo.

4th Place was determined with a shoot-off between Dave Fjelline and Britton Condon who tied with a total score of 78. This contest was shot using the same targets as described in the first shoot-off above. Dave led off and scored xo xx ox xo, Britton shot second and scored ox ox oo --. The result was Dave winning 4th place.

What great shooting we had at this years shoot! Between the close scores of the teams, and the exciting shoot-offs, shooters and spectators alike were kept on the edge of their seats. If you have never experienced the Challenge Cup, you owe it to yourself to attend.

Results of the Hammergun Challenge:

I am extremely please to report that Team Parker has finally won the Hammergun Challenge!!!!!

By an outstanding score of 246 to 235 Team Parker has taken home the trophy awarded for the Hammergun Event. Participation this year was a total of 56 shooters who braved the expected rain on Sunday morning which never really materialized. LC Smith fielded 31 shooters and Team Parker showed up with a very respectable showing of 25. Parker participation having doubled from last years turnout. Way to go!!!

Dr. John Truitt (Parker) came away as High Gun in the Hammer event, breaking 28 of 30 targets. I should say "crushing" 28 of 30.

Clayton Harris (LC Smith) won Runner Up with a score of 27. Clay was the winner of a 3-way tie for RU with an amazing Reverse-Long-Run of 16 targets.

Well, thus ends another year of friendly competition between our two organizations. Our appreciation and thanks go out to our hosts for these events. To Bill Kempffer and Deep River Sporting Clays, who hosted the Southern SxS, once again you made our Challenge Cup a truly memorable and enjoyable occasion. Rick Hemingway of Backwood Quail Club, our target setter extraordinaire, your tireless efforts and fantastic targets continue to make this event a pleasure. Thank you both and we look forward to 2014.
