Default Help

I was recently offered a Parker shotgun after the owner took it to a gun store to sell. He was asking $15K and the gun store told him to take a hike. I know a little(a dangerous thing) about old shotguns but could use some help. It is a side by side shotgun and the barrel rib says "PARKER BROS. MAKERS.MERIDEN.CT.U.S.A.PARKER SPEC.STEEL". The action is stamped with the serial number 191029 and a 2 underneath. The barrel has a 12 with a dot above it on the lug and a 1 1/2 under the 12. There is also a large P.S stamped on the flat. There is a larger 3 with a superscript 13 as well. There is also a small B just behind the lug.

From what I can tell it is a 12 gauge with a 1 1/2 frame most likely made about 1920. I think the "2" makes it a GH model. It has an english stock and a leather break down case that is oval with a sewn in sock for the barrel and a wooden cleaning rod. I am trying to figure out the chokes but I think the only may to do that is measure the barrels.

Can you give me any more info and an approximate value?

Just my opinion, but the gun store was spot on. Do your due diligence an all sites, auction and for sale to see what this type of Parker sells for, not the asking price. Even if owned or orders by some famous person, i.e. provenance, that price is way out of line. Just MHO. Jim

No matter what it's most times impossible
To make fair deal with people that have high unrealistic
Values, it just won't happen. We looked at a DH
With atlas barells and he thought 10k, we told him
Maybe 15 hundred as a shooter and he was insulted, I back away and run when offered these rare Parkers

From what you describe there is nothing rare about a GH 12. If you can provide detailed pictures but even with those I can't see how it would generate a value of $15K

Maybe he got an extra zero in the price for some reason, $1500 not $15,000

If it's in superb condition, with lots of case colors, terrific bluing, and has ejectors, straight stock, single trigger, it might fetch a third of your friends expectation (on a very good day).

I recently "brokered" a very nice Grade 2,GH, 12 , 32" barrels in great shape all original, with 40-50 % CC for $1,400. That was a good price and probably worth a bit more.
