Default 1889 DH 12ga / 2 Barrel Set

I put a few initial low bids on this 1889 DH 12ga / 2 barrel set over the weekend but was quickly beat out.

It ended up selling for 7.4K + fees.

Serial # 56553

Wonder if a letter would verify when it was back to Meriden for the second set of barrels and the 1910 bolt and bolt-plate? Did it start life as a 2-frame 10-gauge or as a 12-gauge?

It looks like it was a refinished gun to me but a very interesting two gauge combo on a #2 frame.

Yes definitely looks to be refinished.

#56553 was made as a 30" ten gauge. As Matt and Reggie surmise, a refinish. It would take a letter to explain the extra barrels. $7400 plus 15% internet fee.

I'd shoot it! An interesting piece to be sure.
