Late season Woodcock
Woodcock season almost over here in New York, ran into one yesterday, most likely last one for this year, gun is a LC Smith 20ga Ideal made in 1919.

James,
Great photo. I think that the Smith Ideal and #5 engraving might just be my favorites among all of the Elsies. An Ideal in 20 gauge sure looks like a great upland gun.
Some years we can get up flight birds until very early Dec. here in Northern Missouri (although the season will be closed then), but generally they are gone by Thanksgiving. I hope you've sent one or two on for the guys south of you.
