Please do provide pictures. Close and clear of the water table and barrel flats and all that is engraved or stamped. As well as, the condition of the wood and metal. Kindest, Harry |

Besides pictures and the condition of the gun how did you come up with 1866"?

Hi Eric,
Not sure if you have read my posts and pictures on another thread. The 1866 is shown under gun stock and says patented 19 Nov 1866. I'm thinking that is the date it was made. Gary |

Hi Gary talked with a friend and he says it's doubltful that the T in the serial is an upside down one. He says it's a T. He has several guns books. He also said that the parker brothers 1866 on the side of gun is the model.
He also believes that the gun is a 10 gauge. Keep digging Gary, I'm enjoying this! Some clearer and up closer pictures would be nice. Also please never reveal where the gun is located to anyone and never let it leave your sight. Enjoy, and I hope you take it to the factory to let them see it and to get down to the real truth about the gun. |

A patent date on an article only means that the article was made sometime after the patent date.

I'm slowly learning. I'm no gun expert, but I'm enjoying all the comments. All I can really say is no matter what this gun is, it's nice gun. Did Gary tell the story that was passed down by my Great Grandfather? It was always tld that the 3 parker brothers each made their own gun and no other was ever made like those 3 ever again and that this is one of the 3. Growing up we were told that a doctor in Cincinnati, Ohio owned the other 2 and that he always tried to get my grandmother to sell it to him. Then the same happened after she passed it on. Wether the story is true or not, it's still a fun story to tell.

Its fun story and best left at that.
Parkers are fascinating works of art, technology and Americana. A person who wants to study Parkers will obtain the two volume work, The Parker Story. |
