Default question aboout a parker bros gun

ok my grandfather has a gun its a Parkers Bros and the top its engraved with Parker Bros Makers Meriden, Conn Plain Twist on the left and right sides its engraved with Parker Bros. On the front side of the trigger shield its engraved with the patent day of Nov. 13, 1860 or 1866 im not sure on the last number and the manufactor date is March 23, 1875. On the back part of the trigger shield it has the serial number which is 7490. I also found this number (7490) on the inside the plate beneath the barrels. I know its an under lifter and if I'm not mistaken its a Grade 0. Its a double barrel and double trigger. Its in great condition! It doesnt have any specail markings on it, its very very plain. I was just wondering if someone might know how I could find out how much its really worth and if someone would be interested in it! Thank you!

Kellie,
We don't allow gun sales on this site and your post may be deleted when the administrator see it? That said, I would suggest you read http://www.parkerguns.org/pages/faq/worth.htm and look for similar guns for sale elsewhere. After you determine what you want for the gun, go to one of the web sites that do sell guns and post it there; there are several too choose from.

Kellie,

We really can,t help you much without some good quality pictures. The gun could be worth $50.00 or $2000.00 depending on condition.

Kellie: The internet provides ways to find comparable guns and asking prices for same. I just looked on a well-known gun dealers site -- pugsguns.com -- and found several Parker guns probably similar to yours and in varying condition and at various prices. Click on "shotguns" then look at numbers 05173, 08304, 07219, 07258, and 07198. Realize that these are "retail" store asking prices and not necessarily what someone will pay.

Kellie: The serialization book has your grandfather's Parker as: "O" Grade gun with 32 inch plain twist barrels, underlever action, 12 gauge with a straight stock made in 1876. All the above information is good and on point. Remember "condition is everthing" when determining price/value.

Best Regards, George
