Default Parker Dog - RIP

All Ed Muderlak's friends knew Parker Dog, Ed's constant canine companion. I had word a couple of days ago that he'd followed Ed to where ever it is all old hunters go. I knew the dog pretty well from birth to death, saw him pick up everything from barn pigeons at Ed and Nancy's farm in Illinois to blue wing teal in Louisiana. He'll be missed by all of Ed's family I'm sure, and by me too.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I know he was a great comfort and companion to Ed and Nancy and their wide circle of friends. So many canine companion loses this year and so much sadness.

You know, I've seen some public television programs about the intertwined evolution of dogs and man, how we are adapted to each other, how dogs sense us and how we bond. I'm very sorry Destry.

Destry, This indeed sad news. I remember the first time I met Ed and Nancy at the Vintagers in NY. I think my son Danny was about 8 or 9 years old then. After we introduced ourselves to the Muderlaks Danny just sat down on the ground with Parker Dog and started to play with him. I remember that smile on Nancy's face to this day. He will be missed by alot of folks that met him.

What a shame. Great dog. Ed demonstrated to me how well that dog was trained when he was here for dinner on his Alaska trip. He could not only tell him to go pee on a tire... he could tell him WHICH tire....I was duly impressed...(they weren't my tires!).

Sorry to hear about Parker Dog. Linda was his designated babysitter on several occasions and will miss him too.

Wow, another four legged companion gone. Man, there's been too many this year. The poor dog probably missed Ed too much.

His best trick happened when the first person in the house would come into the kitchen in the morning. When indoors, Parker only walked on linoleum, wouldn't set foot on carpet, so the kitchen was his spot.

Ed always took his collar off him at night and Parker knew that his day began when he had his collar on. So whoever went into the kitchen first, he'd go get it and bring it to you. He'd even do it when they were staying at my house, he always knew where Ed had put it and would go get it first thing. It never failed to crack me up, that dog was smart.

I still mourn the loss of my two wonderful labs, Marco & Hershee, only 14 months ago. Time heals such wounds but excellent companions like my two lost friends and Parker Dog leave a big hole to fill.

Does anyone have a photo of Parker Dog they can post? I'd like to see what he looked like.
