Some More Books Oct 3, 2026

2. The American Sporting Collector's Handbook, Edited by Allan Liu, 1961. Many categories, lots of information on artists, carvers, duck stamps, rodmakers, luremakers and lot of other stuff. 239 pages, almost unread. A great reference, full of thousands of names. $15.00
3. Dave Duffey Trains Gun Dogs. Dave Duffey 1974 Beyond the basics, but 52 years old. Tons of information. $10.00
4. Big Game Hunting in North-Eastern Rhodesia, Owen Letcher, Capstick Series. Edited in 1987. Unread, tears in DJ. 265 pages. $12.00
5. The Standard Directory of Proof Marks, Gerhard Wirnsberger. Update of Baron Englehardt's 1955 work. Paperback, 190 pages, unread. Undated. $10.00
6. How to be a Crack Shot, Claude Parmelee, 1950. A great old book by an early Parker shooter. How to shoot everything, including my favorite, shooting aerial target with a rifle. Only 78 pages, but large 9X11 format. Hard cover. $12.00
7. Game Guns and Rifles from Percussion to Hammerless Ejector, Richard Akehurst. 1969 London. Nearly unread with damaged DJ. 176 pages. Lots of pictures, English gunmaker information you can't get anywhere else. $18.00
8. Big Game Hunting in North America. Jack O'Connor 1967. 29 chapters, 404 pages. Lots of pictures, including some awesome trophy rooms. Unread condition, fair DJ. $13.00
9. American Armies and Battlefields in Europe, U.S. Government Printing Office. American Battle Monuments Commission, General John J. Pershing, Chairman. To 1918, many maps in a separate bound folder. 545 pages nearly unread. Cover is good. Never seen such a book. This must be the definitive work on World War 1 published by the U.S. Government. $30.00
10. Field Trials, William F. Brown, Nash Buckingham's coauthor of the great "Field Trial Champions" book. A.S. Barnes, New York, 1934 and 1947. Hundreds of field trial winners from Grand Junction in 1896 to 1947, all categories of field trials, names of dogs, breeds, colors, owners, handlers, grouse, chicken, quail, pheasant championships. Field trial history to die for. Read but very clean and tight. 219 pages. I think all content of the Buckingham book is in this book. What a book. $25.00
11. Neil Sheehan, A Bright Shining Lie. A definitive account of the Vietnam War by a journalist who was there from the French beginning until the end and more. Neil was a friend and occasional skeet shooting partner with whom I shared a Model 21 and Purdey affection. Neil got richer from this book, but all of his books are worth reading. More of his books to come. I have no time to reread them, so they are cheap. $12.00
12. Neil Sheehan, After the War Was Over. 1991. Another Vietnam related book by my friend, a guy who was in Vietnam longer than any soldier or journalist. Just that is a reason to read his accounts. 131 pages. Unread and undamaged DJ. $12.00
13. Neil Sheehan, The Arnheiter Affair, 1971, a real live Navy adventure that lets you skip 25 or 30 NCIS television episodes. Real life adventure in the semi-modern U.S. Navy. 279 pages broken spine at page 279, unread condition, torn DJ. Remember, the author and I used to shoot our Model 21s together. $10.00
14. Leatherwork Manual, Stohlman, Patten, and Wilson. Published by Tandy Leather, 1969, paperback, 160 pages. All you wanted to know about leathercraft and way more. I can't tell you how much information there is in here that I have no interest in knowing. However, there is great information for those who are interested. $6.00
15. Charles Edward Chapel, Field Skeet and Trapshooting, 1949. The date will tell you how much this book tells you about modern shooting methods, but there is a wealth of history about all facets of shotgun shooting, especially clay target shooting. $10.00
16. Jim Corbett, Master of the Jungle, 1998, Tim Werling, Safari Press. 244 pages. Brand new, unread. Mint DJ. I wish I had enough years to read about Corbett, but I don't. $15.00
17. Laura Ingraham, Power to the People, a nearly complete account of the battle between the citizens of our country and the liberals who wish to take the country away from us and our children. It is hard to rehash all of the problems that exist, but maybe a chapter at a time will remind you what we are up against. From a very intelligent source. 372 pages, unread condition with DJ. $10.00
18. Free with purchase of anything. Guns Crime and Freedom, Wayne LaPierre. Little paperback.
19. Free with purchase. Our Vanishing Freedom The Right to Bear Arms. Includes court cases. James B. Whisker. 141 pages, Paperback
20. Free with any purchase. James Fallows, National Defense. 1982. What it was like back then. Ancient history before 911. Paperback 203 pages.
21. Roy Marcot, .22 Remington Rimfire Rifles. Brand new signed by the author. $800.00. I have no idea why this is worth this much, but some sellers think it is worth even more. Oh, well.
I will send by Media Mail, which is cheaper than dirt, but of course, the weight of the package matters. You pay the freight, but it won't be much. PM information, and post on this thread to let me know what you want to buy. Thanks, Bill Murphy
