Default Trulock & Harris with Bird Counter

Hello Everyone,

I picked up this 10ga. Irish sxs this past week and had a chance to shoot it yesterday at a tower shoot. I saw it over the summer, and loved the bird counter in the stock, something that I had never seen before.

Initially, I wasn't really excited about getting another 10ga as I have a few, but hadn't shot them in a while. So I forgot about this gun. Then a few weeks ago I shot a 10ga. lifter on a sporting clays course and remembered how much fun they are. I bought this gun 2 days later!

It was made in 1897 with 30" fluid steel barrels choked F/F. It has ejectors and a single trigger(non-selective). Pretty advanced for 1897.

I reached out to a few members to help me with 1 1/4 loads. I ended up using 1 1/4oz. #6s with 23grns of Green Dot. This worked well and wasn't stressing the gun at all. I made some long shots. I shot this gun in the afternoon and got the counter up to 15 before it got dark.

The single trigger is an interesting option you don't find to often on guns from across the pond. What does your new 10 gauge weight?

The counter in the stock is better than the proverbial Red Rider compass in the stock!

How does that function?

Cool gun

The gun weighs 7lbs. 13.3oz. Very nice to carry. While you know you are shooting something recoil isn't bad at all.

The counter goes to 99. You just slide to the side after every "hit" There isn't a reset button though so you have to advance forward until it goes to 00 to start over.

The counter is what sold the gun for me. Luckily the rest of the gun is wonderful too and shoots well. And got me excited about the short 10 again.

Jay:
A fine gun indeed. I know from experience since I still have my own T&H double. It's a 12 bore however. If you're interested, I made it the focal point of a feature story in the Spring 2016 DGJ. I also went into the story of the firm. You may find it worthwhile. I hope your gun continues to please you!
All Best, John C.

Is the bird counter digital or analog?

Thanks John! I will check out that article. A good friend of mine has a Trulock and Harriss 12ga. hammer gun that he really likes and it is beautiful. They seem like they were a quality maker.

I am afraid to say the bird counter is 100% analog, the good news is it always works!

What a neat gun, what are it's dimensions and chamber length?
