Default SW Kansas Quail

Packing up to head home after 3 1/2 days of hunting bobwhites with the dogs in SW Kansas. One of my favorite things in the world to do. This country is tough on the dogs but they love it. These beautiful little animals are gladiators. The bird numbers were great and we moved 25 coveys. 90% of the coveys were 15+ birds with at least 5 with 30+-. (wouldn't you love to see them all cuddled up in a tight circle?) God is good and my cup runneth over!

Hey, Dan, glad you and the pups got into (lots of!) birds. I sure recognize the raw undersides of a hard going dog in rough country, and the sand burrs (hate’em). Have a safe trip home.

Now those kind of bird numbers will make a great memory. Thanks for the update. Sand burrs....You'll still find one in July in your truck or on your dog. Ask me how I know. Worse than green briars.

Dan,
Wonderful!
Those pictures really show the effort that goes into a trip like this.
The driving, the care for the dogs, the rough terrain.
And with all the work comes immense satisfaction.
This is not a bike ride to the beach!

Reggie, I was carrying my O frame, GH 16 Fishtail, that has grown into my go to quail gun, and I carried a DHE 20 one day.

Clark, it’s one of those things my friend. If you know, you know. Absolutely nothing I’d rather do. It’s just part of how God made me.
