Default Help removing label from reproduction case

I would like to know if anyone has removed a label from a reproduction case without damaging the felt?
Any help is appreciated.

I would try a heat gun but don't get it too hot, the label may melt. Then start on one end and use a paint stick to keep the felt from pulling with the label. Work slowly so not to tear or Strech the felt. There will be old glue that will not come off with the label and cannot be removed and will be visible unless the new label covers it. I have seen some that was removed with no issues left behind....good luck. SXS Ohio

Thank you for this suggestion. Unfortunately the label I want to install is considerably smaller.

If it were me I would probably replace the "felt".
There are many suppliers and you could most likely match the original.
Removing the label will always show.

Replacing the felt on a Repro case is a nightmare, trust me! The glue they used is a synthetic, super sticky and super ickey!! I replaced a couple using Billy Gross' suggestion; using a similar or slightly larger label, I glued material matched "best possible" to a very thin greeting-card weight stock that was cut just 1/8' or so over label dimensions, then glued the label to the card and the card to the case lid after drying. Using very thin card stock and ironing the felt to the card stock before the label is glued to it makes the card barely noticeable in contrast to the surface of the rest of the case lid.

I want to thank all of you for your advice. It saves a lot of heart ache just doing the old trial and error.
Always nice to hear from those with real life experiences.
I am converting this Parker case to hold another custom Sterlingworth Fox the Chris Dawe completed.
I ordered a label from Galazan and will be using some of the ideas that our members have shared with me.
I will be sure to follow up this post with pictures in a few weeks when the case is completed.
Thanks to all Phil

Phil,
Hold the presses!
There is an ebay seller from the Ukraine who makes great leather trade labels.
The FOX label measures 7 1/4" x 4 7/8". Last price was $75 plus shipping. I have glued his Parker Bros label, same size, right over the Repro label with great results.

Thank you Bob it looks like this is the perfect solution. I just placed an order.
The seller has 100% satisfaction rating with over 1000 sales.
He has labels for many manufactures and I think I will be ordering a label for my A. forgeron.
His custom pistol cases also deserve a 2nd look.
