Clarks Hill Lake (AKA "Thurmond Lake") on the GA/SC border has the most stunning deposits of red clay. Took the dogs for a ride on the boat a couple days ago and beached it where the clay was exposed. As soon as the pups got in they stirred up the otherwise clear water. The color was an even more dramatic shade of red than it appears in the photo.
