Default first mallard for Pepper

Hello all. Wife and I have been unable to run as usual on our bike path due to flooding. We wound up going to the Charlston Falls near Tipp City OH. Nice little nature center with 2.5 mile groomed pathways. Along with the flooding, the blessing has been abundance of water to make the falls cascade nicely, along with filling up the small brooks . My 8 year old Pup "Pepper" was acting quite birdy, and had "the stare" when he's locked on game. To our surprise, a mallard who was hiding in plain sight on a stump on the stream center, made his presence known when he splashed into the water. I had to laugh. I never saw the bird, but the pup did. Pup's never seen one before, but he knew he wanted it. It was an unexpected blessing from the flooding here past week.

A bird dog’s gotta do what he’s gotta do! Our dogs point birds on power lines when riding in the back seat. There are times when I can only imagine what goes on in their beautiful heads.

99% of the population would look at that picture and think "dull." The rest of us look at it and think, "ahh, the wonder" and "what a beautiful place!" and "what a lucky encounter!"

Ya,, we used to run this pathway back when she was competing, for strength training hill work sessions. Not so much these days. Pix of the natural Falls . Pretty peaceful and quiet setting for sure.
