Thanks Brian. I will raise the trigger guard and see if it is numbered to the gun. I think it is restocked by factory. That will be an indicator.

Can you post photos of the stock?
Serial numbers are not the be all end all. Of you do check for the numbers, see if there is a large “R” stamped too. That would be an indication of a factory restock.

It is not a definite thing and I do not know what period they were marking restocks like that. I think it was a late meriden thing. Not Remington. As I recall, the couple of remington restocked guns I have owned were not marked that way.

This being the "R" Brian has referred to. A 1925 BHE trap configuration that letters as a SG and now sports a PG stock. Nothing in the records pertaining to the restock.

I lifted the trigger guard, and it is numbered to the gun with the grade 2 stamp but does not have the R. I am sure it is a proper Parker Bros stock. It did go back to the factor at some point as the wear plate was installed on the lug.

Likely a later factory restock. The rounded bottom of the checkering pattern indicates mid to late 1920s style. And the overall style of the stock and comb fit that timeframe as well.
