Default Quail gun

I'm sure this was ordered as some gents quail gun.It was shipped to the Anderson Hardware in Atlanta, GA. in 1906. Ordered to weigh 6 lbs, 26 in Cyl/mod, an O frame 16 ga DHE. I bought it around 1990. I don't carry it much because I don't shoot it very well. A little short at 13 7/8 lop, adding a slip on pad increases the drop too much. I blew the covey rise, then a shot at a single, but finally managed to take this little cock over point out of a second covey.

It’s about how you take them, and that was in good fashion, Harold.

With chokes like that and at 26" it would make one heck of a New England grouse gun! Almost perfect! Very jealous.

Love the gun, but I have the same issue as you. Most guns are stocked to short for my 6'3" frame. I would have to have one re-stocked to fit. I would like to blame my poor shooting on poor gun fit. That being said; I will take the gun off your hands and one of the pups as well.

Almost without question that was ordered as a quail gun, in that location and time. There were huge numbers of quail around Atlanta in 1906. This picture was taken in Marietta, a "suburb" of Atlanta now, maybe just a few years after your gun was ordered. Yes, those are all quail.

I'd have to make that gun fit me, were it mine. Some way or anuthah.

Judge Morris looks like the typical "Hanging Judge".

Couple of Remington 11's? Could be a Parker in the middle.

A little post Christmas hunt. Had to pull the dogs off 2 Covies as I couldn't get in to flush. Dropped 2 birds in that impenetrable crap that the dogs thankfully retrieved for me. VHE 20, Doodle and Willie,
