Default Rural gun show CHE

So yesterday, Saturday February 5th, my wife and I drove over to Barre Vermont from NH, a two hour drive, to a fairly rural Vermont Gun Show that I like to attend. As I was walking around the tables of mostly "gun guns" when I spied a Parker. Further inspection revealed a well worn Parker CHE with 30" barrels. The stock was pinned with a screw and the wood had a very bad glossy refinish. The receiver was well worn but the barrel blue was ok. When I asked the dealer If I may pick up the gun he immediately came to me and said yes, make him an offer as he "desperately" wanted to sell it. The only problem was his asking price was $12,500. I said thanks and moved on.

I've purchased 3 guns the exact same way.But I take the serialization book with me and showed each seller the actual cost for the gun and both were still happy.
I actually paid one guy more for a gun he was told it was two grades lower.

Tell him to put a decimal between the 5 and the zeros and you've got a deal

I attended a Gun Show two weekends ago in Albany, NY and I saw a Parker just as you describe with the same price. He even said the same thing to me, to make an offer and that he needed to sell it badly. I told him we were probably too far apart and moved on. There was another 12 ga CHE there with a replaced butt stock and forend, and a high vent rib, reblued barrels for about the same price as I recall. Then there was a 20 ga Trojan that had been reblued, receiver and all, with refinished original stock and forend and the guy wanted something in the neighborhood of $3000.00. I was thinking it may have been worth a second look at half that price.
