John,
Nope, one's checkbook is not required! Unlike other American doubles, the first hammerless, Lefever has an adjustable ball and socket joint. Before adusting mine I want to find a better tool that a small pair of needlenose pliers. Too bad the other makers did not copy this feature! |

Mark did you post this question over on the Lefever site? I'm sure they would have the answer.

Brad,
The gun is a Lefever D Grade 10 gauge that you'll enjoy seeing. Thanks! Mark |

Mark, is it a screw slot or a two hole spanner? Many years ago, I made a punch type tool to break them loose, but I had one that just wouldn't break. Brownell sells an adjustable spanner that probably works better than the spanners I have made.

Hi Bill,
The gun has the 2-hole spanner. Thanks for the information. I am to visit Bachelders in 2 weeks and will, thanks to Brad, use their tool. After that I will check out Brownells's spanners (per your recommendation!) with a good idea of what to look for. Respectfully, Mark |

Eris,
Thanks for the advice for the Lefever forum. I asked here first because I know that there are Parkerfiles that have a few Lefevers on the side... Mark |
