Default Carleton Hall Auction Results

The RIA thread reminded me of the Carleton Hall auction last week. The #3 frame VH 12 went for $2,800. A DHE 16 with straight grip went for $8,500. The DHE 20 went unsold. Sounds like pretty good prices - for the seller.

Do you think the straight grip put about a $1500 premium on that DHE 16?

Dean - The gun was in very nice condition, but that is a lot of money for the gun I saw on the website. It probably looked better in person, but I'm notoriously cheap when it comes to these things.

Ed: I was present for the Charlton Hall Auction & with your permission would like to make a slight correction to your post. It was the 20 gauge straight grip DHE that sold for $8,500The 16 gauge DHE brought $4,800 and had a semi-pistolgrip. The 12 gauge VH No. 3 frame did bring $2,800. The 12 gauge DH straight grip has not yet brought the reserve of $4,000 and the SC Grade SBT has not yet brought the reserve of $4,000. Both are beautiful original guns.

Best Regards, George Lander

Thanks for the correction George. That looked like an interesting auction. Did you buy anything?

I bought the Ithaca Grade 4-E SBT for $1,400 + BP & tax. It was a very good auction and we're already working on next year's. An old friend, recently moved to South Carolina, Pete Harvey is coming on board to help us with next year's sale.

Best Regards, George
