A "New" Early Lifter
I got this several months ago and finally had a chance to go out and shoot it this afternoon. It is an early Lifter #1310 a 12 gauge with 30” damascus barrels and rebounding locks. It is a light gun and I would usually say a number #1 frame. It is not marked and the space between the firing pins is about 1 1/16”. A nice light 12 ga. lifter!
Another interesting thing with this gun is that it was sent back to Parker in 1888(see the letter in one of the pics) to be restocked as a pistol grip, barrels re-browned and fix the action. Check out the turnaround time…I thought that was fast!
I looked up the person mentioned in the letter and they owned a dairy in Philadelphia. The person mentioned in the letter would have been 16 in 1888. I am heavily speculating, but I might guess that he was given the Parker and he sent it back to have it look new and have the style stock he wanted. It made me think of the “Originality” thread from a few months ago.
The gun shot well, I need to pattern it. I shot both black powder shells(which performed extremely well in this gun) and some 3/4 oz. RedDot reloads. A very enjoyable afternoon…
