Thanks Reggie! The barrels are listed as 28" and were Full/Full from the factory. Barrels now measure 27 13/16" I think they must have been dropped on the muzzles and then repaired. Gun has a tight pattern still maybe it is a IM/IM now.

The stock had be cut as well and has a very short length of pull. I had speculated that this Parker must of been for a younger shooter who accidentally dropped the barrels(just guessing). I had a leather covered recoil pad installed and the LOP is now 14 1/4" to the front trigger, which is perfect for me... |

Jay, my GH 16, O frame has the same issue. The story was that the gun fell and dented the muzzle , they are just a little over 27" now, but its a fine gun to hunt with.

Jay, I would bet it is still Full/Full. Most Parkers had/have a parallel section of the bore at the muzzle that often measures between 1/8” to about 3/8” so that’s probably all that was trimmed off. .

Harold, I think if the gun didn't have the barrel and stock issues I wouldn't have been able to afford it. And it is a wonderful gun. Like you, I don't mind the barrels being a little short at all. Now that the LOP is back to where it should be this is go to Parker for me now.

Dean, I think your right, I don't see the 3/16" changing the choke too much. When I had Abe Chaber install the leather covered recoil pad he measured each barrel for choke when I mentioned the barrels were slightly shorter than they should be. I don't remember the numbers, but he said modified or improved modified. I really need to buy a bore micrometer. I will say that the pattern from both barrels seems closer to full than modified. |
