Default It's spring in Turkey land!

Email from a high school friend came with this picture and a subject line of, "Orgy in our yard this morning". This is in Ray Twp north of Detroit. I counted about 35.

Update: She just told me there were over 50 there, and that's just one of the local groups.

We have seen them, but not that many. They have a way of disappearing when the season opens

We are a long way from spring in mid Michigan and the Upper Peninsula might not see it until mid May

Have seen some turkeys around, but nothing like that number. There are to many to fool with, never have been able to call up a large group. The season opens in Mississippi Friday and I will be there come rain or shine to start my 47th turkey season.

I wouldn’t want to call in a large flock... too many sets of eyes and one suspicious old hen will bust you every time.
I called in a flock of 16 hens and one old longbeard about 15 years ago (read about in Parker Pages - “A Parker Perfect Morning”) and they almost busted me. My leg was resting against a little maple sapling and the more my leg trembled the more that sapling shook. All eyes were on me I’ll yell you... nerve-wracking for sure!!
