A lose screw is not the only cause of a lose hammer. It can be wear on the connecting fit of the hammer to the shaft; wear on either the shaft or the hammer can cause a lose feel to a hammer.

Or a worn hammer axle or the hole in the lock plate through which the axle protrudes.

Thanks for the replys the screw is tight the hammer rocks on the shaft is what I think is happening. Does Tom Carter work on Parkers or just sell parts ? I will have my local gunsmith look at the axel to determine is it is toasted. Gun was made in 1885 top lever is correct most likely it is out of warranty. Who to send it for repair would help.

Where are you located, maybe one of the 'known' Parker gunsmiths are nearby? I would suggest you find and use someone who is familiar with Parker guns and Damascus barrels.

Send Brian Dudley a PM. He can help you out. Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you can shoot lined gun in a sub gun event.
