Default Anyone here deactivate their ejectors?

After spending several hundred dollars with the Del Gregos fixing my ejectors, I disconnected them by removing the little set screws in the forend mechanism. Anyone else do this? The extractors work pretty well bumping out the shells.

Never gave it a thought Ed. Please explain how those set screws work and what is the procedure for removing them.

He speaks of the screws in the side of each of the trigger slides.

This basically tricks the ejector mechanism into thinking the gun is always cocked. Thus leaving the hammers held on the top side of the combo sear.

It is the simplest way to disable the ejector system without gutting the forend. .

Why go through all the effort to fix to then just disable?

Thanks Brian, but are they simply removed or is there a procedure that needs to be done beyond simply removing the screws?

To answer Brian's question: I sold the gun in question and disabled the ejectors on a gun I still have. I prefer extractor guns for their simplicity.

Remove forend iron from wood, remove screws, put iron back into the wood.

Deactivated ejectors don't push the empty out as far as ejector guns. Friend I shoot with wears a left and right hand shooting glove and complains how hard it is to pull the empty. I cut the fingers out of my right glove and don't have any problems. Still wish it was possible to totally convert ejectors to extractors while preserving the ability to switch back.

Is there a way ?

William, I have that problem even with some of my extractor guns.

No. Not really. In order to make the shells extract more, extensive modifications must be made which would prohibit the ability to switch back.
