Default Under My Nose Part Deux

Also in the PP Parkers Found section is another gun (26909) I own. I've had it for 16 or 17 years and was my 5th Parker. I had forgotten about it at the back of the Bravo safe (it's where I keep the hammer guns). It's a Underlifter, C grade, 3 frame, 10 ga with 30" Damascus barrels. The Parkers Found has it as a "6 frame". It sure is big and heavy enough. See the lug picture.

That "3" stamp is the frame size. I dont know what the "6" is, but it is in the wrong place and turned the wrong way to be the frame size. Measuring the firing pin spacing will confirm since there is a big difference between a 3 and a 6.

Besides, with all the metal that would be in a set of 6 frame 10g barrels, the gun would have to weight at least 14 lbs.

The distance between the firing pins is 1 3/16" so a three frame. Also the chambers are 7/8" across. I don't have a ten gauge shell and don't know the dimensions of a shell. There is also the D with superscript H on the barrel flats that I have not seen before. Anyone have an idea on this?

The gun is how I bought it other than light oiling for rust control. The bores are rough but there is easily enough wall thickness to bore to an eight gauge so a light cleanup maybe in order. I showed it to Doug T when I bought it in Vegas all those years ago but he did not do Damascus barrels then so nothing happened.

I too have a hammer gun with that 6 as well as the J.S. (Jim Stokes) barrel maker's stamp. I presume the 6 is associated somehow with J.S. Mine is a 1 Frame, top action, and is also a Grade 4.
