Default Bore Diameter Question??

Just acquired a GH two barrel Damascus set. Each gun has a forearm. It is the 101,000 serial number range. All four barrels mic out at .730. Given that diameter in all four barrels, is it a reasonable assumption that these barrels have NOT been lapped anytime in the past?

Also, what was the typical bore diameter for a Damascus gun (when it left the factory) of that serial number range?

What wall thickness should I expect?

Thanks,

Guy

At .730, that bores would be as they left the factory. Congratulations.

HI, .730 should be factory norm in a 12 ga., about 4 to 5 inches in front of chambers should be about .070 to .090. down by muzzel between .025 to .040. so if the barrels are "nice and clean" you should be fine to shoot low pressure loads (i try to keep below 7500 psi). my trap and skeet loads are 5000 psi in 12 ga. 7/8 th oz and 1 0z. scott

Default Parker Bore Diameters

I am just mailing off the spring issue of Parker Pages to the printer. I won't spoil your evening reading; but there is an article on the evolution of Parker bore diameters included

Best, Austin
