Default Leaving For Ontario.....

Taking off this afternoon for the Saturday duck opener in Ontario. Will be good to be back in the boat with Nathan and the boys. Ducks all over according to reports, and a few geese showing up as well.

Taking the big 34 inch DHE and plenty of Kent TM #3's. I prefer #5 for ducks, but at any range I'd hate to shoot at a goose with them so I'll stick to the heavier shot for this trip.

Report to follow.

We braved the opening day crowd on the lake and by leaving out extra early secured a prime location. Five of us shooting, limits of ducks and geese all around. Ducks were about 85% greenwing teal, few mallards, a gadwall, one bluewing, and a single redhead.

We sent the boys who were set up near us to school on the goose shooting. Just as we finished up on ducks the geese started to fly hard. We had a big spread of goose floaters out so we stayed for a bit thinking to give them a chance. Nate and I worked our calls to deadly effect, we had our 10 geese in the boat in another half hour and none of the crews around us had fired a shot.

"...what loads were you shooting.bismuth nice shot.... charlie " Maybe Charlie or TM as Destry really likes how TM shoots or maybe something else depends on what he has in his pockets at the time

Good on you Destry. That explains why we have very few ducks left up here. They left early it seems. Swans were grouping up Sept 1 around here. We got a few birds this weekend but it was very slim shooting. Never seen so few ducks flying.
