Default 16 ga dhe 32" value

I will be meeting a gentleman in the next couple days to look at a DHE, 16 ga, 32", 0 frame that is in the book. The gun has original PG stock, grip cap, skeleton but and double triggers. Receiver is silver with barrels re-blacked by competent smith. Highly figured English walnut wood refinished that is not undersized and no cracks or repairs. No pitting in the bores or elsewhere and was told prior to re-black and wood refinish it just had honest wear from use. Unfortunately a few things have been refinished already and without a picture it is tough to assess. I have only seen poor quality pictures myself from a phone that would not be worth posting here. Any thoughts would be great on value based on my description? Hopefully the verbal description to me on the phone is consistent with what I see in person.

Thanks for your help!

It is a trade deal so I would have about $3,400 in it by the value of the trade.

Nice find. A DHE 16ga with 32" bbls on a 0 frame
Depending on condition I say close to 5000.00 if not over.

Brian, There was one for sale on a collectable store internet site for a few years, it eventually made it to gunsinternational and sold pretty quick for the $6k asking price. It was a #1 frame DHE with 32" barrels w/ 90% original finish, pistol grip stock w/ skeleton butt plate, traces of case color and perfect screws. Sounds like you would be in the running in the $3-4K range with the refinishing providing it was done properly. 32" barrels are hard to find in any gauge, and a 16ga. O frame!!

This gun may have some provenance that could make it a little more interesting.

Any collectable is worth watever the market will bare. A 16 gauge DHE in xx% condition is worth what? With 32" barrels add to that price 25 - 50% for it being rare. That stated, how many people want a 32" 0 Frame 16 gauge? Probably more than a few...

It the gun is unmolested, and in nice shape (no cracks or gouges, a bit of CC and 75% or better blue) I'd estimate you'll be into it for less than half it's value +/-
