Default Any new SxS's at the half way point of 2024?

I'm off to a good start in 24, a very nice BH Parker 12ga 30" Boston Show Gun bought on GB and a Fox XE 12ga 30" purchased from Josh at the Southern. Sold way more than my two purchases. How about you?

Just sold my 28 ga Repro. Didn't fit me well enough to keep.

Josh worked with me, and the seller, on a beautiful BHE 20ga, Damascus barrels. I guess I have to count a GHE 20ga with 30" damascus barrels, but I only bought it, to add the barrels to the BHE.

I bought a 1926 Thomas Wild hammer gun at auction for a very good price. Had a fitting done, opened the chokes a to M/M, decreased the drop and increase the LOP with a pad. Shoots really nicely now. I shot pheasant, ducks and partridge with it last season. It’s great on clays as well. Fun old gun.

Not a Parker but I recently picked up a High Condition 16 Gauge , LC Smith Specialty Grade ,Double Trigger 28" Barreled Gun ! A pretty rare Gun according to the Book ,which always seem to appeal to me for some reason and it seems to fit me very well ! It is choked so tight the Galazan 16 Gauge Choke Gauge wont go in the left barrel ,not sure how that will work out !!!

I purchased the NH 34” that was on here for sale then sold the GH 10 34” I bought a few years ago . Then a week or two ago an EH 28” fell in my lap . According to the book they made 60+ in this configuration but the kicker being I already had a match to the gun and they turned out to be consecutive serial number guns shipped to the same place . Both of these consec guns will be at Hausemann’s as well as the NH .

Russ, you might want to mic the bores of that 16 with a Skeets or comparable gauge. I have a 16 field grade from 1930 with the following specs:• R bore .646, choke .627 (19 points) L bore, .646, choke .621 (25 points) (Note: Between 1927 and 1933 the nominal bore for 16 ga at LCS changed from .650 to .662. See note below) That might explain why the Galazan gauge won't go in.

David Williamson offered the following on the LCS site:

"Of the five 16 ga. I have. All have a bore size of .650 but one, that is a 1939 FW Field with a bore of .662 and with the raised rib and 2 9/16" chambers. A 1927 Specialty Gr. 16 has bores of .651 both barrels. Circa 1910 O Gr. 16 has bores of .643 both barrels. Circa 1919 FW has bores of .650 both barrels. Other gun is an F Gr. 16 with right barrel .651 and left barrel .650."

Enjoy.

I've gone the other way ..... made a major reduction of the collection over the past two years. Most all of them were little used guns and I kept a good representation of the makers I like. So far, no new SxS's for me during 2024 and I did resist the great urge to buy one on Gunbroker just a few days ago.

Default Rare and special Parker

There's one on the horizon and I'm preparing to get it if it comes out into the light of day. EVERYONE will know if I'm successful. Of course, I'm going to have to sell some things in the meantime to afford it. $$$$$

You got hit by the “Corona Effect” I see with that MX-20 ! While I’m a Krieghoff person in O/U’s , Daryl’s MX-20 and MX-28 are nice feeling guns as I’m sure yours is as well . I’ve kinda come To the conclusion if I’m able to get a shotgun to the Philippines I’m better of taking a K-80 over the VH 12 2 barrel set and a Fox pin gun . Just from the parts aspect alone . They’ve got decent mechanic gunsmiths meaning replace readily available parts but if a Parker or aFox broke over there I’m afraid I’d be down for the count .
