The Parker gun is known all over the world, and it’s fine finish, balance and general working qualities place it among the leading guns of today. This firm had a full line of. their latest hammer and hammerless shotguns, in 10, 12, 16 and 20 gauge. The prices ranged from $50 to $500 list, and contained the highest development of the gun maker’s art.
The new grade recently placed on the market by Parker Brothers is bound to make itself popular. It is a plainly finished weapon, with Vulcan steel barrels, made expressly for strong charges, having heavy metal at the breech. The stock is fine English walnut, nicely checkered, and the balance is equal to the highest priced gun.
In the $100 and $150 grades they showed beautiful samples, having Titanic steel barrels, fine engraving and handsome checkering. These guns were made in the straight "pigeon gun” style of stock, also with the Monte Carlo and ordinary shaped stock.
The Parker gun has gained many honors at the trap during the past few years, and many important events were taken during last season by men using this arm. The shooting done by Master Guy Grigsby the 13-year-old wonder of Louisville, was quite phenomenal. At Louisville November 24, 1898, he won the Futurity Stake, killing 49 out of 50 live birds, defeating some of the best shots in the country.
The records made by Sim Glover, D. A. Upson, J. D. Gay, H. D. Kirkover, John Parker, Barney Worthen, F. D. Alkire, C. M. Powers, O.R. Dickey and others were among the best of last season. In the Grand American Handicap last year Parker guns were used by three of the eight straight men, which is a record to be proud of. C. W. Budd has done grand work with the Parker gun for several seasons, making the world’s record at targets thrown reverse angles, breaking 96 out of 100. At Nashville, Tenn., last October he made a run of 83 live birds straight.
Parker Bros. gave out a pretty booklet containing half-tone cuts and records of nearly 30 prominent trap shooters who use Parker guns.
