Smith v. Parker Challenge
OK, my version of this competition. This past week I thought it would be a good chance to blood my "new" L. C. Smith 4E 16 gauge on some wild Bobs here in Missouri. I alternated it with my go-to quail gun, a 1918 DHE 20. The winner?...clearly, whoever is the caretaker of either of these fine pieces of history.
The Smith is a 1901 gun with beautiful Chain Damascus barrels, choked tightly in both 28 inch barrels. It has nice stock dimensions and worked well on late season Bobs with spreader loads.
I've written about and posted pictures of my DHE before. This is, to me, the quintessential bird (that means quail, BTW) gun, ordered by a Southern bird hunter and field trial participant.
