Default Parker “P” Grade Shotgun

Hi I am a new member and I am NEW to collecting and learning about Parker’s. I have a P grade with some ornate engravings and a Damascus barrel. Did the P grades have much engravings generally speaking? I checked the water table it’s marked with a “P”. Thank you !

Pictures would help as P grades had minimal engraving

Is it a hammer gun or hammerless?

Does it say Damascus Steel on the top rib?

The “P” or Grade 1 in either configuration would normally have had either Twist or Laminated Steel.

Your post is a little confusing. A 'P' grade is a Grade one, but the inverse isn't necessarily so. I have never seen a grade 1 hammer gun with a P on the watertable, nor have I seen a P grade with anything but 'Twist' or 'Parker Steel' barrels.

When I get home from deer camp I will post pics of both hammerless and hammer Grade 1 guns with Laminated Steel barrels.

It won't be the last time I was wrong, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first either.

edit: TPS has an asterisk under 'laminated' to indicate there were, in fact, 20.

Edgar, are you looking in the Grades section for both hammerless and hammer guns?

Yes. Under Hammerless, there is an asterisk in the Laminated column. The foornote says they are listed as PT but the stock books show 20 of the to have Laminated steel barrels.
