Hammer gun info
Hi...just getting into parker shotguns...I have 2, one in 16 g and 1 in 12 g...I am somewhat green and wondering if someone has a little info on one I just purchased...the gun is a hammer gun, serial number 53852...( i believe 1888)...it is what I would call respectable condition...16 gauge with twist barrels...the frame size is marked with a "0", and is marked with a T, with upper and lower type parenthesis around it...barrel is marked Parker Bros Makers, Meridan Conn, Twist...there is also what appears to be a 32 on the underside of the barrels...the 3 being twice the size of the two...The main question I have is the forend type on the gun...it does not have a splinter or a beavertail type forend...it seems shorter than the conventional type forend that i have seen and looks nothing like the forends on my other two parkers...I don't have the gun yet, as it will arrive in the next couple of days, so I can't do a complete inspection of the part...the forend seems to match the buttstock in color, although I am unsure of it's authenticity...I cannot see the underside of it, so I can't determine how it is attached...anyhow as I mentioned I am a novice collector and wondering if anyone has any insight...thanks for any info...
