Default Win 572 Powder for Cheddite 2.5 in Hulls

I have 2.5 inch 16 gauge Cheddite hulls(cut down from hulls sold as 2 3/4 but acually measure 2 9/16), 209 (2000) Cheddite primers, BP 16 Sporting wads.

I am looking for 1 oz #8 shot low pressure( less than 8000 psi) loads , velocity 1100 to 1200 fps using Winchester 572 powder. Do you have any low pressure loads using Win 572 powder,

What is your experience with Win 572 powder

Your questions will get a lot more attention if you re-post them in the reloading sub forum, but I will say, there are lots of people using 572 in place of Alliant 20/28, and 572 has been around a long time, and is certainly a lot less expensive. Good luck.

You sure you’re not getting 572 mixed up with 571 ? 571 was around thirty years ago . But if I’m not mistaken 572 hit the market in the last 6-8 years .

My father-in-law died in 2005, and had two unopened bottles of 572, in his garage. That’s when I started using it.

Thank you. I’ve been loading lots of 12 gauge in 572 and was about to switch to 16. Now I don’t need to clean out my powder scale
