Default What is it?

This is a old muzzel loading side by side that I cant put a finger on. I am trying to resesrch it for my cousin in law. She recently aquired it from her fathers possessions after his passing. I have found the proof mark, St. Elienne, France, possibly dating the barrels to between 1825-1856. This unfortunately, is all I have found, the other names and markings being beyond my knoledge. The writing on the rib is partially worn off, but some is ledgeable. The odd foregrip is something new to me as well, possibly being a modification. If so, a bit of care went into its installation.

That is a really neat old gun but under the revised Assault Weapons ban being proposed in Connecticut, that pistol grip would make it illegal to own here.

If that's happening in Connecticut, I can't wait to see what's going to happen in Florid

Very nice craftsmanship in that gun. I think that forgrip extension on the gun would make that an assault weapon here in NY. LOL
