No problem, safe at that velocity, similar characteristics to a 1200 fps 3/4 ounce load. Unless 3/4 ounce is not sufficient, I would save the one ounce load for turkeys.

Any barrel concerns using small shot TSS (#7 or smaller) in an open choke (IC/M)?

I wouldn't be comfortable with shooting Tungsten shot through my 28ga repro. The repro barrels are supposed to have chrome lines bores & should be able to handle the hardness of tungsten, but I personally wouldn't take the chance of possibly damaging the bores from these loads. 28ga repro's values are well north of 5k now with some selling for over 8k. Why take the chance of damaging something with this kind of value with a load that's just under $20.00 for every pull of the trigger?
I know that's beyond my comfort level, just to say I killed a Turkey with a 28ga. https://www.federalpremium.com/custo...FCST28275.html |

Everyone knows their own comfort levels & if someone wants to run these through their guns please feel free to do so & report back to us on the results. I do have a friend that shoots these TSS loads in a modern 12ga auto-jammer and raves about them. |

I have been researching it and it seems that the original literature indicated that steel shot was safe to shoot in any repro with less than a full choke. That seems to make sense given that these guns were made in the late 80s. Also most steel loads probably contemplate much larger shot size than that seen in most TSS loads, probably significantly so. Couple that with protective shot cups and tiny shot and it seems like low risk. I agree that it would be based on an individual's risk tolerance. That said, the idea of using the little 28 in this fashion might be worth some "measured" risk to the barrel.
