Thanks Jeff - I just checked in the Griffin & Howe records of Parker serial numbers that I mentioned in my previous post and 178770 is not among those serial numbers so I guess, like soo many other Parker shotgun owners have experienced, there is no other recorded information on your gun that we know of.
Incidentally, The G&H listing of Parker serial numbers can be found in the Winter 2017 and the Spring 2018 issues of Parker Pages. .

Lower grade guns could be directly ordered by individuals, but unless the customer wanted to do so, or had very special requests. They would have likely just ordered from a local retailer who maybe had one already in stock.
Or even if they had custom requirements, they would still order the gun through a local retailer.
