Bow is Mathews Z7Xtreme set at 53lbs,reduced from 63 due to a shoulder injury. Bull quartering to me.Arrow entered tight behind the shoulder and penetrated to offside ham, nearly 4 feet.

Nothing is more exciting than calling a 6x6 bull in close during the rut and then harvesting him with your bow. Love those dark horns. Congratulations!!!!
I'm heading out Thursday on a rifle hunt. |

Jim what which broad head are you shooting? Shot a nice Coues Whitetail opening day a few weeks ago, sure wish I would have drawn an elk tag in AZ this year.
Nothing like hearing a rutting bull breaking brush and screaming on his way in. At 8 yards, you can hear them breathing, smell them, and see every detail on these fine animals. No need to see the Cadiologist after one of these elk experiences, if you survive without a heart attack you are good for a few more years of hunting. LOL. |

Phil, I used a 100 gr stinger with insert making it a 4 blade. I am a firm believer in a fixed cut on contact head.I have no time for mechanicals on elk. We ran into another hunter in our area who had lost a nice bull while shooting a Rage with an apparent fatal hit. We hunted 30 miles SE of Meeker, Colo. near the Flattops
