I have looked at the Hodgdon site & didn't find the 1oz load using international powder I've been looking for.
I'm rather surprised to find so little loading data for 16ga using international, especially in 2 3/4" 1oz loadings. When you read the information for International it show that's it's a good powder for both 12 & 20ga target loads up to 1 1/8oz so in my mind it should work in 16ga as well. I'm in the situation of wanting to use-up some components I have on hand rather than buying something new and with 9lbs of international on hand I would like to use it in 16ga if I can. |

Thanks for the help but I've shifted gears thanks to Pete's post about the alliant powder available at Brownell's.
I found a loading that would work for me using 20/28ga powder & bought some from Brownell's. |

Cheditte 16 ga hulls (cut to 2 1/2")
Cheditte 209 primer Sporting 16 wad 7/8 oz. bismuth 15.7 gr International You'll have to use the taller version wad in 2 3/4" hull. Had these tested at Precision. Avg velocity 1229 FPS, Avg pressure 8733 PSI Same as above but with 7/8 oz. #7 1/2 lead and Fioche 616 primers, also tested at Precision. Avg velocity 1211 FPS, Avg pressure 8433 PSI. The bismuth is lethal over decoys and the lead just fine on clays, dove and quail. Pleasant rounds to shoot. I usually have an "0" frame 16 in hand with the lead that weighs under 6#. As always, these loads are just my experience, use at your own risk. |
